Hi,
I work at a bank and they are wanting to put spyware programs on all of our systems. Being in IT I know Spybot and SpySweeper are good programs.

The only problem is that being in a bank we have to use software that is licensed etc...so that when we get audited each year they don't say how do you know this software has been proven safe.

Does anyone know of a decent spyware package by a big name vendor we could purchase that could stack up to the ones above?

Thx,
Ryan

SpySweeper Looks the best to me if we purchased the license....what do you guys think?

-Ryan

Adaware has a professional version that is for business networks.
I'm not sure I would totally recommend 1 program to cure all your spyware/malware needs, and I am a firm believer in running SPybot, Adaware and Spywareblaster in combination to eliviate the whole mess.

Though I've never tried it myself I've heard great things about "PestPatrol". Checkout (great newsletter for the PC and windows) for more info and possible discounts.

Cheers

I second the Pest Patrol suggestion. There is a corporate version that can be centrally administered.

I will check out pest patrol.....I was also looking at ad-aware pro....it seems to be designed for the IT pro as well. It also includes nice plugins one which allows you to read what cookies actual say and are doing. I know that adaware is also known for not catching some things. What do you guys think?

-Ryan

Ad-aware is great but as far as the Trojan issue goes I would utilize something different.

Is pestpatrol good at trojans?? We currently run Norton Corp Edition.

If you were looking for something to administer over 2 branches and wanted something that was easy to keep updated and run. (I can't depend on my employee's
so I would have to manage all 35 machins:) Would you go with pest patrol?
-Ryan

So far we are seriously considering Pest Patrol because of it's central admin ability. I've done quite a bit of research on the product and what it can do and it really seems it may be the one.

We had flirted with simply looking down IE but that is not really a great option.

It's all so complicated because you also have to consider users with laptops (setting a policy on what can and cannot be used on laptops, VPN access, outside users connecting to internal network for printing etc.). Our main goal is to make sure we get Trojans covered. But I guess the main thing is setiing policy for users as to what they are responsible for.

Aw, what a life security is!

Your telling me! I'm lucky in that we have not outside users. We only have 2 users with laptops and they always stay here at night. But still it's a struggle....Having the government on your back doesn't help:)

I'll really look at pestpatrol....Thx for the advice!

-Ryan

You might want to look at swatit which is for trojans. It has both a free version and a professional version. it claims it can remove 4000 trojans!

Does anyone know anything about the eTrust Secure Content Manager from Computer Associates? They claim that this product blocks spam and spyware.
