I have a really old ML370, it is running a PIII-800 CPU and the current bios is dated 12/18/2002

I have tried to run SmartStart on the box, but the three versions I have (6.10, 7.01 and 7.10) do not work, the newest two will not even run, the oldest boots from the cd but will not run the install program, saying it is not supported on this hardware.

I think I could probably get hold of an older version of smartstart, but am unsure of what version for this server, and my biggest worry is that the older version of smartstart will not allow me to install Windows 2003 ( which I need to!)

awww, these pesky computers!

Any ideas on the best way to proceed? Has anyone had similar issues?

Gary

You should Use Smartstart 5.5
(This is for every Proliant Generation 1 server...)
It is still available from the HP Site.

Don't thing there would be a problem with 2K3 Server ...

apparently it does have a problem with 2K3 but as it says in Thread484-990110 it is solvable...
