I need to copy a CD to AIX and files on the CD are both ASCII and Binary. What program can I use undere windows to zip the file, then uncompress under AIX? I've tried WinRar, and 7-Zip, both could not uncompress under AIX after FTPing the files in binary to the server.

I would just mount the CD on AIX (if a CDROM drive is available that is)

smit cdrfs

or get the zip/unzip utilities for AIX - they're on the bull freeware site:
zip/unzip on AIX can process winzip archives created on Windows...

HTH,

You should be able to winzip in on windows, and gunzip on AIX.

hmmm...now I'm not so sure about my last post, I'll have test it out when I have time.

ok.... ignore my last two posts. That doesn't work. I guess it works in reverse.

p5wizard solution is working fine. Winzip then unzip on AIX. thanks all.
