Hi all,

I have and IPO500V2 and i'm trying to configure the router by forwarding the necessary ports to the IPO address.
i want to able to do "Upgrades", access "Embedded file management" and change the configuration.
What ports do i need open?

Thank you

You don't want to open those ports!

Build a VPN tunnel or install a pc to remote in on.

Kind regards

Gunnar

as long as you tie your policies down to your companies external ip address it will be fine. a decent firewall will detect IP spoofing and drop any hacking attempts.

To be honest, I do it on a watchguard with IPO's with no ISDN or PC access. I can only access the IPO from the office. All passwords have been changed. Manager and Operator accounts get deleted.

@HSM: Yeah, but you know what you're doing with those beloved Watchguards of yours [smile]

There are enough exposed IPO's out there already, and the "friendly" hackers of Israel/Palestine are more than happy to exploit any open port they find.

So, if you know your stuff, the ports are listed in the KB and Help section.
If not, use Logmein/Teamviewer or build a VPN connection.

Kind regards

Gunnar

As stated above
Unless you are fully knowledgeable on the security implications & how to restrict access at the network level DONT.

if you do have the necessary network security knowledge & policys in place, you probably still shouldnt.
a correctly secured VPN is the best way to achieve this.
even when a VPN is in plcae you still should consider changing all the IPO Passwords, Disabling Auto creat extn and other VoiP services unless absolutly necessary.
