I have a small network where only one user needs to Remote Desktop into his office computer which is running the Windows XP Remote Desktop.

Can I simply open a port for his static'ed IP address for this? Like I do for PCAnywhere access?

I looked on the IANA site for a port assignment but found nothing that I thought was for the XP RDP

PIX 506E, by the way.

TIA

Answering my own question, maybe: M$ support says 3389 needed for RDP 5.1. Im assuming both TCP and UDP???

Anything else to be aware of?

TCP 3389 is sufficient

You may wish to look at changing the terminal services listening port to something else.

Thanks FS, I did just that (opened TCP 3389). Now the user says he can't get in. I'm to speak with him in a little while and find out exactly how the failure went down. If I don't find the answer I'll post my config here and ask to you to take a look, if you will.

Thanks again.

No probs.
