Hi there,

Got 1 w2k server act as DC, DHCP, DNS, etc, also hosting MS SQL server.

Just wondering to implement a new SPS2003 server, what other backend server do I need? Do I need exchange server at backend in order for SPS2003 to work?

(AFAIK, SPS2003 need SQL server in backend)

Many thanks!

looking at the information provided you only need to acquire a server running windows server 2003 and sharepoint portal server 2003. SQL 2000 residing on your other server can be used.

regarding your question if you need exchange: this is not needed for sharepoint. to have your sharepoint server send emails (for alerts) you only need to point it to a smtp server (or install that locally on your sps box)
