There appear to be a number of caveats to be considered when selecting equipment. I just discovered that my 2505 router does not appear to have any ipx commands. There goes the plan to convert the old nt4 server into a trial netware 6 server.

Does anyone know if the command set is just a function of the IOS or is the PROM involved as well? Wish I'd known this BEFORE I ordered the upgrade.

You need to get the right IOS for the router. Sounds like you have the plain ol' IP only IOS load. There is the IP/IPX, IP/IPX/IBM and others

Besides, Network 6 will talk IP.. and IPX is being phased out on many of the Cisco certs.

Someone was on alt.certification.cisco yesterday bemoaning a significant amount of ipx material on his CCNA exam, thus, just in case, I'd like to be ready. I can't afford retakes, particularly right now.

Do you know if this is just a function of the IOS or is the PROM involved as well?
