Next month we will be upgrading to Exchange 2003. We are currently using pop3 accounts. The server install isn't my worry. What needs to be done within Outlook 2003/2000? Just set up an Exchange account? How does the .pst mail file copy to the server. Thank you very much for help.

The PST file will not copy automatically to the server.

You "could" use exmerge to import it but what I would do:
-Create document telling people how to find the PST location.
-Tell them to copy it onto a temp server location for BUp purposes.
-how to Create the LOVELY new mapi outlook profiles
-How to open outlook file (i.e. the pst file)
-how to copy the folders manually into the Exchange mail box

Have a practice in your test environment and you'll see how easy it is!

Good luck,
Iain

Once you've configured Outlook to store the mail on the server, copy the .pst file to a network location, named as the user ID. Once you've got all of them copied up, use Exmerge to import them into Exchange

How to configure an account to use the ExMerge utility in Exchange 2000 Server and in Exchange Server 2003
