What might cause local-originated (submit.cf?) mail not to show up in syslog,but incoming mail does?

Doing a "tail" on /var/log/maillog I can see incoming connections to sendmail just fine.
When I send a mail out - nothing shows in the log at all though.
If I turn the debug on - I can see that it's sending out just fine - merely not logging anything at all for those.

Any idea why that might happen?
