What kind of RAM does S3400 use?

Anybody know what kind of RAM (memory) the S3400 MAS uses? I have a customer using MM3.0 on a S3400 and Windows 2003 server just bogs the system down. I want to upgrade from 512 to 1G.

Download aida32 (freeware) from the URL below. It's a very handy utility that provides a wealth of configuration and hardware information about most PC-based systems.

Copy the file to the MAS, unzip, and lauch the exe file. It's a binary package so no install is necessary.

Did the extra RAM make a difference? We are preparing for R3.0 upgrade and will upgrading MSS to S3500, but plan on maintaining S3400 for MASs. If there are serious performance issues on the MAS we may need to reevaluate that decision.

In my honest opinion I wouldnt run MM3.0 on a S3400 at all. If your able to upgrade to S3500 series servers. If not then at least upgrade the RAM. I would look at what the spec requirements are for Windows 2003 and base it off that. Again Ill let you know the difference tonight. Im sure it will be significant.

Also keep in mind that with MM3.0 you can use WSO (Web Subscriber Options). If you use this feature your users are going to be logging into the MAS which will put more strain on the server.

We have systems that are on rel 3.0 that all have over 4000 users on S3400 systems with a seperate wso server and 96 ports on 3 mas's running with out any trouble.

So we swapped out the 512 ram with 2G on the S3400. It definately helps the performance of administering the MAS. The only annoying thing is when you start the server the counter for the memory takes like 10 minutes to count 2G. Other then that we didnt run into any issues.

Avaya supports S3400 MM 3.0 with 512 memory, but having extra memory isnt a bad thing.
