Without opeing up the rack server, is there a way to tell exactly what type of RAM I have (e.g. 512 MB, DDR@ 667 MHz)?

Perhaps thru the BIOS?

Thanks

Go to the server administrator, usually thru and you can view the details of your system there, it shows something like this:

Status OK
Device Name BANK1_A
Size 1024 MB
Type DDR-SYNCHRONOUS
Speed 3 ns
Failures None

Additionally you can visit the dell website and run the service tag.

Under original system configuration, you will see what the system shipped with, also there is an option for current system configuration. Dell then drops an installer onto the system you're using to visit the site. From there it will spit out the systems current configuration. You then should be able to see the part numbers and descriptions associated with all of your hardware, not just memory.
