What it the best LTO2 drive for a L180 at the moment

Hi

Could anyone help me with what LTO2 FC tapedrives to buy for our L180?

For production we use STK9940B and I hope we never have to move that part of our backups away from STK9940B (except to another 9940 type drive), but I would like to use LTO2 drives for vaulting our external backups to.

Out Technical account manager is pointing at Seagate drives and for the 4 years he has been my contact at StorageTek his advice has in general been very good.

I just want to verify with some other people that have tried this in a production env.

I have ususally been selling and instaling the IBM drives, but as a STK reseller, HP is making a big push to get their drives in all STK libs
. The HP LTO2 drive is going to be the standard drive in the new SL500.

You won't go wrong with either HP or IBM Drives.

For FC Drives, the IBM's are the norm.

I may be wrong, but Seagate do not have a LTO2 FC drive that goes into the L180, You only have the choice of IBM or HP. From experience, I would go with IBM.

if you are looking for performance, this is the table:

1st.- IBM
2nd.- SGT (Certance)
3th.- HP

If you are looking for cost $$$$$:

1st.- SGT (cheaper)
2nd.- HP
3th.- IBM $$$$$$

and.. if you are looking for durability:

1st.- IBM
2nd.- HP
3th.- SGT

and.. the tape drives with more firmware problems:

1st.- IBM
2nd.- SGT
3th.- HP

Then.. make it your best desicion.. I prefer HP
and..... Hp have a lot of sofware tool in your site
