Howdy!

I setup a printer less than 24 hours ago ... Connected to HP printer server (3 ports, port1). It worked fine then and now, I am getting an error when sending output to file

If I did # l | lp -dprinter I get

Code:
lp: connect: No such file or directory

I checked /etc/printcap and /usr/spool/lpd and all looks OK. I have tried turning printer server OFF/ON and printers as well. I stopped/started TCP (tcp stop/start) and did same with printer scheduler (lpshut/lpsched).

What am I missing?

Thank you all in advance.

Are you trying to print using HPNP (or NETCAT) or LPR? You mentioned /etc/printcap and /usr/spool/lpd, so it appears to be LPR.
Can you ping the JetDirect? Is the printer still plugged in and powered up on PORT1? You can run into problems printing to PORT2 or PORT3 if PORT1 isn't "ready".
Do you get the error you mentioned immediately? As root?
Do other printers continue to work?

Please post the section of your /etc/printcap which controls this printer.
