we seem to be having a problem with this file. everytime we are trying to patch our systems using HFNETCHKPRO we are getting bluescreens on our servers.
after upgrading to the newest version the problems seems to be fixed. MP4 -5
so my question is: what is this file? and what does it do?

VSP = VERITAS Volume Snapshot Provider. It is a replacement to the Open Transaction Manager (NBU v3.4).

It is a caching protocol that will assist in backing up active (open) files by taking a snapshot of the volume (partition). HOWEVER, depending on the size of your data to be backed up, this may not be feasible. Just beware that it can generate a large VSPcacheX.VSP file on your file system when attempting to capture the data to tape or disc.

Here are some links to assist in the configuration:

Hope this helps.........

Thanks,
Bob
