Can some one clarify something for me.

My router boots with

System Bootstrap, Version 12.2(7r)

and the IOS is c2600-i-mz.121-17.bin

This is really confusing, all I find on the net is how to reset the cisco password when I search

What is the System Bootstrap?

It is the small command set OS that resides on the bootrom, also known as rommon.

/

tim@tim-laptop ~ $ sudo apt-get install windows
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package windows...Thank Goodness!

So basically, when the 2600 boots it can go into IOS or ROMMON?

So there is initial bootstrap, and then you can boot ROMMON, or IOS?

[root@netwatch ~]# yum remove windows
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Setting up Remove Process
No Match for argument: windows
No Packages marked for removal

OH YEAH!
