Hello, In SQL2000, which I inherited, there are 14 sa processes listed. Some have last batch date of 2008-09-19 which I assume is when the service was last started (server rebooted).

Is there a way to tell why the process is there? For some if I look at the process details (double click process in Process Info there is nothing in the Last TSQL command batch: window. Under status some say background and some sleeping. There is a mixture of databases listed. There are also various things under Command - Task Manager, Awaiting Command, Checkpoint Sleep.

I also have several Administrator role processes that I would like to change but I am unsure of what they represent.

I hope this makes sense. Basically I have processes that I want to know a way to find why they are there.

Thank you,
djj

Any spids less than 50 are the system processes which are basically the SQL Server taking care of the SQL Server. Things like the auto checkpoint process will be in there, as will any auto shrink events, etc.
