Go into restore, select the day\tape you want to restore from expand the tree until you find the file(s) you want and then select them.
Hit run now, insert the correct tape if you haven't already and by magic the files will be back......
You may want to redirect the files for more control over the restore? By adding a prefix of RESTORED to the file (manually) then putting them back in the correct place for the user.
I had to restore an excel file today and wasnt able to find a way to place the file in a specific location so that we clould have a look at it. Can you clarify on that proceduree again? thanks
After you've done you selections, under one of the tabs somewhere will be a tick box that says Folder Redirection or something very similar.
Select that you will then be able to restore the \\server1\c$\folder1\folder2\folder3\excel.xls file to say c:\temp\folder1\folder2\folder3\excel.xls on your backup server and then deal with it manually.
Just saves overwriting any existing files because now and again you get err actually i didn't want that one but the one that was already there......
Thank you all,
It will be a while until I post my results. I am currently having problem getting Veritas Backup Exec to run.
I will post my results soon.
