So many times I see that one thing is important to SEo then the next day I see something that says it isnt. Who has the latest articles/info on SEO that IS current? My bosses want to see me put together all that I know about SEO and how it applies to our site.. but I am not sure if Ill give them the right info - I only know what I know.. ya know? Anyone have the most current info? everything from title tags to backlinks to site heirarchy?

Thanks

the answer is to stop reading so much crap!!!

what matters for SEO has NEVER changed. The self appointed "experts" who devise these "rules" to be followed are simply spouting self important drivel.

Chris.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Thanks Chris but my boss(es) probably arent interested in that answer LOL! - Even if it is crap or not I need to put together soemthing that is current and looks good and makes sense to them.

Then make it up, like the 'experts' do.

You either want the correct answer or not.

Don't get hung up on doing things specifically for search engines and concentrate on making a site that serves your users. That way, you are unlikely to accidentally hit on the things that will damage your sites status in the eyes of a search engine.

Play it straight, don't try to be clever and use your common sense.

To add...
By doing what was suggested in the previous post, you are more likely to get other sites liking to you as yours will be perceived as being a quality site. This factor alone seems to imprive rank (with Google anyhow) more than anything else.

I would also suggest regularly updating the file - it needn't be much - such as deleting a letter within the content and replacing it with the same, but uploading the 'modified' file to the server. This gives it a new 'last modified' date and can encourage bots to update more often.

I doubt whether this actually increases your rating, but if you do make any real improvements to your site the bots will be along more often to index and update the cache, which could be of benefit.

Regards, Andy.
