What is the function of MSBLAST.EXE

I've recently upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP, and I noticed while running my firewall that MSBLAST.EXE will open 10 to 15 connections on port 135 to an IP registered to
When I terminate MSBLAST.EXE nothing bad seems to happen and my system goes about its business.

Is this some sort of needed function, or can I go about blocking MSBLAST.EXE ability to comunicate with this site, or any others.

Hi Spyder... I am not sure if you have been living in a cave for the last week or so, but MSblast is a virus that is designed to attack the microsoft update web site. I would reccomend that you update or install a virus scanner, and check out

I just bought this new machine two weeks ago, and while I had been doing searchs on the web the information I came accross was rather vague in regards to weather MSBLAST.EXE was the virii itself or the method being exploited by one.
