I noticed my drive space on my C: drive was getting low on my Windows 2000 Server. I did a search on the drive for large files. There is a event.log text file that is 1GB in size. What is that file? Can I delete it?

Thanks.
Ryan

this wasn't generated by the Event logging service since these files are located under c:\windows\system32\config\*.evt. If the file isn't being updated then it should be safe to delete. If you are not able to delete it try this from the command line
echo > event.log
This should overwrite the existing file with a blank. I would recommend defragging your machine aftert this.

To clear up additional space
- Try moving your pagefile to another partition
- remove patch un-install directories if you don't need them
- check user profile directories for internet explorer history/caches.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your response itsp1965. I'll back up the file and delete it and see what happens since the file has not been modified for over a year.
