All depends on what YOU define RJ-45 as! RJ is "Registered Jack" and the number after defines what type of jack (Number on contact positions, number of actual contacts required), and what signals are to be wired to which contact.
Most people wrongly call every generic 8-pin jack or plug an "RJ-45"
