What is the difference between RJ48 and RJ45?
Are the pinouts the same, just different kind of plug or ?

All depends on what YOU define RJ-45 as! RJ is "Registered Jack" and the number after defines what type of jack (Number on contact positions, number of actual contacts required), and what signals are to be wired to which contact.

Most people wrongly call every generic 8-pin jack or plug an "RJ-45"

Try here for some common USOC codes and their wiring diagrams:

This would be more appropriately placed in the Cabling forum, Cable Systems forum is intended for RF/CATV/MATV discussion.
