Just going through a bunch of equipment I attained and am trying to see what I can use as backups to our present old equipment.
We presently have the 617T33. So I was wondering if the 617U33 I just got could replace that.
Or what is the difference.
If so can I restore the 617T33 backup to the 617U33?

Ok I should just ask all these at once...

are these direct swaps? if not what is the difference?
412TDL/ 617A52 interchangeable with the 617B52?

100DCD 617T15 to a 617S15?

016 T/R 617F34 to a 617E34A?

Thanks for any help

In reality, these can all swap (like function to like function).

Long before I was a phone person, I was a car parts guy. That job gave me a good grip on seeing the logic in some part numbering schemes. If you take a look at the numbers, you can (surprise surprise) find some AT&T Number plan logic. 517 modules are the "Plastic" ones used for Merlin Ii and Legend, and the 617 modules are the "naked" ones for the Magix carriers.

The last 2 digits show the function, 15, for instance, is the T1. That holds true with the Legends as well.

The EXCEPTION to the "swap" I mentioned is a design flaw when installing "M" series (Legend T1 Mods) and"N" Series (Magix T1 Mods) with 016-TRR to their right.

Other than that (which won't affect your situation) you have some nice "swapability".

Thanks.
Yeah I just recently noticed the 617 517 difference one having the clamshell on it.
So those 2 Processors are swapable?
If I were to swap them out, would I have to do a board renumber? restore from a backup?
If I swapped any of those other boards with different revisions would I have to do a renumber?

Thanks for all the help.

There was a recall on a run of 016T/R boards. Boards with the part number 617F34 with a manufacture date between September 2003 and February 2005 displayed problems with the top and bottom 4 ports.

The ports "go to sleep" and also could experience problems breaking dial tone. Avaya issued Change Notice 1288B Supplement 8 to cover this.

The fix was to replace the boards with different versions.

The processors might have different amounts of on board memory. Newer processors use batteries to maintain programming during power failures. Older processors use capacitors.
