What is the deal with MS Access?

I can write extremely complex queries in Oracle, but can't get a simple BETWEEN TO_DATE AND TO_DATE query to work in Access. Why is Access so difficult? Is it ANSI SQL or MS SQL? Why deviate from the standard? Isn't Access supposed to be simple?

is it ANSI SQL or MS SQL? neither

isn't access supposed to be simple? yes

if you are accustomed to TO_DATE then look up the CVDate function in access help
