In XI,
On a manual crosstab, what is the best way to to reproduce this same effect for yearly totals in a footer?

Main report has
Group 1: Date (monthly)
Group 2: Employees
Details: supressed

Where
Group 1 header has column headings
Group 2 header has summary data for each employee
Details supressed but has formula that performs counts

Group 2 footer - nothing
Group 1a footer - has summary for monthly counts

The report is run from date 1 to date 2.
Now I would like to put a cummulative total at the end of the report for each employee. This worked easy using crosstabs but I had to switch to manual because of requirements and need guidance on the best approach to handle this. It will always go after the Group 1a footer along with a legend which will be in Group 1b and will print on the last page only. My initial thought is to do a subreport but as I am trying to learn XI, thought that it would be good to check with the experts.

Thanks

I ended up doing the subreport path but would still be interested in any other ideas.

The problem with subreports is that they do their own requests for data. This slows the report.

In a manual crosstab, you ought to be able to include yearly totals. Use the Year({your.date}) function.

I can include the yearly totals but it doesn't show per individual. What I had done was to insert a new group below the group date and that let me do the yearly total but it didn't give the employees breakdown.

I had
Group 1 - Date Yearly
Group 2 - Date Monthly
Group 3 - Employee

do I need to do it differently?

Maybe a crosstab in the report footer. Crosstabs re-group data.
