I am wondering what the best PC brand is for a gamer. Could some one tell me?

Have a computer CUSTOME built to your specifications. I suggest going to a local PC shop and telling them what you want and have them help you desighn a syatem for gaming. At this point either a P4 or an Athlon with 256 meg DDR RAM. A 64 Meg Geforce 3 Video. Others can tell you the best main boards and sound cards. You will get many opinions. but as I said go to a local shop. Go to several and compair prices. Show them the price from the last shop and see if they can beat it. James Collins

Branding does not come into it!! HP, Compaq, Dell, IBM etc etc are just big manufactures who produce a range of PC's for the home and work place, THEY DON'T necesarilly use their own bits to make the computers, for instance a Hewlett Packard system may have a seagate hard drive, hyundi ram, pioneer CDrom panasonic floppy and so on.
It is just that they put all these bits in a matching case etc Martin

Many factors come in to play. If you want a system that has a good garantee, then buy brand name. Gamers definatly need a good video card and the prices are coming down on the Gforce 3. One of the major factors of course is how much you want to spend. Alienware is a company that targets the gaming community and has some really good systems.

Build your own is definitely first choice. But if you don't want to go through the hassle of picking out parts, picking an OS, building (or having it built), etc., go with Alienware, Voodoo or Falcon Northwest (look up on internet).

Check out alienware Gaming PC's with aluminum cases.

Many custom build shops build systems for gamers. Gamers often want the newest fastest best of everything from sound to video to CPU. A lot depends on how much you want to spend. A good Monitor with 1600 x ..... pixel size and a top of the line video card would be on the top of the list. It would be a waste to have a good video card/CPU and a little 15" monitor. When I get a little money I plan on getting a bigger monitor.

I didnt realize how bad my old CTX monitor was until I purchased a new monitor for my daughter. It has really gotten bad over time. If you do not like my post feel free to point out your opinion or my errors.
