I have a 3 computer home lan (all xp) hooked through a BEFSR41 router to a Surfboard SB3100 Cable Modem. Charter is my provider.
My internet connection seemed really slow so I looked at the cable modem and noticed there is constant traffic between the cable modem and the cable modem (lights constantly flickering). I tried unplugging the computers one-at-a-time to see who it might be and with all the computers unplugged it was still going to beat the band. I then unplugged the modem from the router and the lights stopped.
Does anyone know a easy way to figure out what is going on? Could someone be doing an external attack on my IP address?
I do use wallwatcher and it shows an external attack on on port 137 (netbios) every 20min or so from various sources but that is it.
