what is "pts"

when I use "ls -l /dev/pts"
I whill get more than 200 number.
when I login a host and type a command "who"
It will display

root pts/2 Dec 19 11:11 (1.1.1.2)
root pts/3 Dec 19 11:11 (1.1.1.2)
root pts/4 Dec 19 11:11 (1.1.1.2)

who can give me a description abort "pts"

That's what is called pseudo terminals
Section 7 of man pages or google "pts" may informe you more about this devices

The pseudo-tty subsystem simulates a terminal connection, where the master side represents the terminal and the slave represents the user process's special device end point.

PTS sessions are normally sessions where client PC's have active telnet sessions to the server.
