are you serious? man...
I saw it from some legal document.

Well so far all I've found is this:-

Q: What are the addresses of the Sympatico email servers? (#10514)
A: SMTP (port 25)

smtp1.sympatico.ca
smtp8.sympatico.ca

POP (port 110)

pop1.sympatico.ca
pop2.sympatico.ca
pop6.sympatico.ca
pop8.sympatico.ca

If you joined the Sympatico service before October 5, 1999, use pop1.sympatico.ca.
If you joined the Sympatico service on or after October 5, 1999, but before May 3, 2000, use pop2.sympatico.ca.
If you joined the Sympatico service on or after May 3, 200, but before March 1, 2002, use pop6.sympatico.ca.
If you joined the Sympatico service on or after March 1, 2002, use pop8.sympatico.ca.

Make of that what you will...

Anyone else?

ROGER.

Ah, in that context it's just the names given to the servers. POP8 isn't a protocol! They've just named their servers pop1, pop2, pop3 etc...

It might have well as been ;

popservernumber1.sympatico.ca
getyourmailhere.sympatico.ca
anythingyoulike.sympatico.ca

You are still using POP3 to collect your email, ie. the protocol.

Chris.

....that's lawyers for you....

Tired of waiting for an answer? Try asking better questions. See: faq222-2244

sometimes when you scan documents a 3 can scan as an 8, especially if different fonts are used.

other than that.. no idea

nlm, ic...
then, it may be my mistake.
please close for this topic.
