PeopleSoft is an ERP package. It tries to have enough variety in it's product line so that it "fits" most everybody. Peoplesoft bought the JD Edwards product last year, which menas that it now has almost 3 distinct versions of the software. The original peoplesoft, the JD Edwards OneWorld product, which are both client/server products, and work on a variety of platforms. And the old JD Edwards World product, which is an AS400 platform product. I believe that eventually the client server products will merge into a single offering. The question is if they will keep the World product, they have stated they will, but people change their minds. As the world product would seem to be a different sort of beast to them. I believe that the client server products are not database dependant, (Qracle, SQL, etc). While the World product, being specific to a platform is IBMs DB400.
