Paradox was developed by Borland(if i am not mistaken) as a competetion to dbase-iii+, but didn't pickup much market share as dbase (formerly Ashton Tate). It was a in true sense, a relational database and gave excellent results. Today we use oracle/sybase, these require either WIN-NT or UNIX(mini/mainframe), but paradox was the first of its kind for DOS based operating systems and could import data from dbase/spreadsheets also.
