Hello sir,,,
I need to know what is the requirements of earthing of meridian switches.
1. Should we connect the shelfs and MDF/ IDF to separate earth points or we can connect both of them to a single earth point. I am asking about equipment earthing NOT electrical.
2. What is the minimum resistance value of an earth point.
3. Please tell about the reference number of avaya/nortel documents regarding earthing of equipment also.

Thanks

Page 176 - all your grounding requirements are in this document

I would review all the requirements listed for your installation.

Thanks John..plz suggest about point no-1 . We are using for one of our system two separate earth points ..one for system cabinets and one for MDF and IDF Frames. Now the earth point which was for our system cabinets has gone bad and we want to use the earth point of MDF / IDF Frames for system cabinets also..is it OK or NOT ?

I have connected both equipment and racks to the same ground with no issues. In fact, have done so at government facilities which have real strict guidelines. As long at the earth ground you are using meets the system requirements you should be fine.

In actuality all of your grounds should go to the same SPG.

KCFLHRC.. actually we are working under a government sector.. here all earth should be separate i.e building, electrical (power), equipment.
It is prohibited to connect an equipment chassis earth point to an electrical point.

@LittleMaster - You asked for the manufacturer's recommendations on grounding. You were given how to find that information by janaya. Any other response on here is personal opinion or experience. If you still have questions on compliance with your particular requirements, contact the manufacturer (now Avaya).

Yep, you can do it the right way or the government way. Your choice
