What is Mini-root?

Miniroot is a stripped down version of the operating system which contains just the basic commands needed to manage and recover a corrupt root filesystem.
If your root filesystem was corrupted or maybe you had a a failed root disc and you could not boot the system, then you would load miniroot form tape or Cd and boot from that, then repair your filesystem and boot as normal.
