what is LEN???

can anyone tell me what the purpose of this line is, i cant figure it out. i need to cut down a file path name.

Len returns the length of a string.

Ex. Len("Cat") = 3

Say

path = "

rootpath = "

http://www.tek-tips.com"

len(path) is 38
len(rootpath) is 23

right (path, len(path) - len(rootpath))
will give
right (path, 15) which is "/viewthread.cfm"

If that is not what you want, either add a trailing / to rootpath or use right(path, len(path) - len(rootpath) - 1)
