I have run out of disk space on the c drive and while doing a clean up I came across the following files.
I have 3 files name astpsdat.000, astpsdat.001 & astpsdat.002 which are 780Mb , 560Mb & 360Mb in size. The modification dates on these files are all 7/18/2003.

Running Win 2k server with ArcServe2k
The location of these files are c:\Program Files\Computer Associates\ARCserve\DATABASE.

I have gone to CA's web site to determine what these files are but don't seem to be able to find information on them.

My last full back up was performed on the 28/7/2003, which is a nightly backup.

Could someone please advise the purpose of these files (if any).

Thanks

Hi
You need to have enough space where you have Arcserve
also if you don't have sufficent space reduce your pruning period to delete the old info but in this case you need to merge the tapes more frequently whenever you want to resotre any data by tree.

Now to make space just inisilize the database but again whenever you want to restore from old tapes you need to mrege the tape.

The astpsdat-files are together the database in which te detail-records are stored.
If you enabled the detail-logging, it is stored in the astpsdat.
All details about what's on your tape (the sessions, the files, the everything) is in the astpsdat.
All details about your media-pools is in the astpsdat.

When you delete this files, you can't see anything in your database (except perhaps the 'Jobs details' and 'Media details'-heads; but nothing added under it.
You even won't have your media-pools; I know it's very easy because you never get the risk now that you insert a tape from your Save-Set.

But I see you're a lucky man: together these files are just about 1,7 GB; here they are 7,2 GB.

Astpsdat.db - Maintains the Arcserve\EB Backup Detail (FTS) Database information by recording the addresses of all String Names. This database will also be updated if a Merge operation is performed. It contains the information on all the files and directories backed up.

(See my FAQ for a list of all the databases.)
