Hello everyone,
I went into Menu 13:7 and see I have Fax Processing set as Yes. Can someone explain what this does?

Also, I see I have PowerCall Agent Access set to Y. From what I have heard, this is a purchased feature. Can someone explain the feature?

Thanks for the help!
Perry

fax processing is the feature that you need to be able to have a type 45 fax mailbox and to also receive and send faxes from a type 0 mailbox. If you look at menu 13 - 15 it will tell you if you have any licenses for this and how many you have. It is possible to have the feature but not have any licenses to use it.

The power call is the ability to leave your mailbox by pressing 6 at the main menu and go to a type 40 mailbox application that is running on a data module or 3rd party vender data application. We use this for employees to be able to press 6 and go to an application that knows who they are already from the mailbox number and give them payroll info or any other info they need or the ability to change medical info and so on. It would work the same way if you are calling your back to use the ivr to check your balances or move money the application is tied into a mainframe or other system or systems.

It can be used for an endless number of things.

WOW!
Great information! Thank You!

With regards to the fax... I checked 13-15 and see we have 200 licenses, but the Fax Mailbox feature is not installed in 13-7. I am on the phone with Avaya trying to get them to turn on the feature. I would assume we should have the RTU if we have the licenses... Would you agree?

Thanks!

One other thing... Can you tell me how I would use a type 45 fax mailbox?

I am looking for users to have a receive mailbox and then forward faxes to a printer or another fax machine.

Thanks!
Perry

are you talking about the fax delivery feature ? if so that is a feature you have to pay for it allows someone to call into a mailbox and request a fax and have it sent to them at their fax number or to the fax machine they are calling from.

Although it's a nice feature, that is not the feature I am looking for...
I would like for users to have a mailbox dedicated for faxes where they can retrieve them and forward them to a printer or another fax machine.

there are many ways to do this and the best way is to set up an OAS server and use visual messenger to pull the faxes from the mailbox. You can just turn the fax on in the class of service and then the user can receive faxes in there mailbox and you would then set up a primary printing destination or when you call in you can tell your mailbox what number to print the fax to.

With the OAS/Visual messenger software to can view all faxes and voicemails from your desktop and then save them or print them to your printer. If you have the feature bits you probably have the OAS software. Do you know if you have a LAN card in your system ?

With the features you have now you could setup a dedicated mailbox for faxing. It would help if you can post a screen print of menu 13 - 7 both pages to make sure that you do have every thing you need. You do not need the fax delivery feature to do this.

I do have a LAN card and just purchased the AUI - RJ45 transceiver for it yesterday. I will be assigning an IP address to it today.

I have taken over this system not to long ago and have no clue where the OAS/Visual messenger software would be... Is this something that Avaya will provide via download or is it a purchase item?

This sounds very promising!
Thanks...

It would have come with the system or the upgrade. It is not a download from Avaya. But i may be able to work with you on that. Send me an email off line from our website from the info button.

The OAS software CD will say "OctelAccess for Octel 200/300 and 250/350 Message Servers". It is shipped with new systems and with upgrades. You will also need a Windows 2000 server to load the OAS software and an Octel Access license key specific to the serial number of your Octel 250. You will also need to make sure that you have "Client Access" licenses in the Octel 250 as well (Menu 13 - 15).

You could also use the fax features from a type 0 mailbox. The Class of Service just has to have the "Fax Messaging Code" and "Max No. of Fax Pages" setup.

You could also use the type 45 General Fax Message mailbox that Ken Means talks about for receiving faxes directly.

Thanks for the great information...
I have a call into my Avaya Account Manager to see about getting a replacement copy as I have no clue where this could be... But I am still looking...

Thanks again!
