What is DVI used for?

Its the Digital video connector used for newer monitors and video card. It is a digital singnal versus and antalog signal. Some new cards have both the VGA and DVI connectors on them.

Alot of the higher end LCD TFT monitors require a DVI connection for Digital imput. Martin Replying helps further our knowledge, without comment leaves us wondering.
