Good morning

I have just come across three or four entries in the process list for /usr/sbin/bosboot -qad /dev/ipldevice going back to various dates in june. What is it? Is it related to a mksysb job that was left lying around> and is it safe to kill the processes?

Thanks

Alan

ipldevice is the LV that has the boot block. (e.g. /dev/hd5)

They shouldn't be running in the background so something is definately wrong. botboot writes the boot code (normally) the the ipldevice.

I have never seen the -q flag before but from the man page:

-q Determines how much disk space is required in which file system to create the
boot image. Boot image is not created. This flag is optional.
