Hi,
I have seen dead.letter file in lot of systems. What it refers and when it is created.

Thanks [sig][/sig]

Usually occurs on a system where the sendmail mechanism has been setup as a POP3 server name on an ISP, and the sendmail routine is configured so as to not do DNS lookups and just forward the mail to the internet gateway address.

Make sure DNS is set up properly on the server, then change the settings on the mail transport mechanism to force it to use DNS lookup.

A Dead.letter is a mail with an address that cannot be resolved. Probably there is a fault in address typing.

But as tomw remarked it could be a consequence of an improper setup of the Mail system [sig]
hnd
hasso55@yahoo.com

[/sig]
