I have been trying to package a VB project and it indicates that I need DCOM98 installed on the destination machines. What is DCOM98. I searched the microsoft site and it is only available to subscribers.

Any thought would be welcome

Ken

DCOM stands for Distributed Component Object Model. It allows Com objects to be run remotely from a server computer. It also has a place in the data access world. On Win95 computers only you have to install DCOM98 before you can install MDAC(Microsoft Data Access Objects) for database access. if you're installing to anything other than win95 computers, ignore the message. If you are installing to win95 computers, and you are installing MDAC_typ.exe as part of your package, then you will need to install DCOM98 if it is not already installed, which it probably is. After win95 DCOM started shipping as part of the operating system. I think DCOM98.exe can be found on your VB CD. Check the help library for info. Ruairi
