What is Crystal Decisions / Crystal Reports and how would one use it/them? -Ovatvvon :-Q

The way I descibe it to people who've not used the product is..

1) There is a lot of data sitting on computers and servers, usually stored in databases of some sort.
2) Crystal Reports is a special application to extract the data you want and make it look pretty.
3) Reports can range from a simple column and row report to complex invoices and statements, drill down reports, charts, labels, maps, envelopes, etc.
4) It includes techniques similar to MS Word, Excel Access, SQL Server and Frontpage but is a special tool in it's own category. Editor and Publisher of Crystal Clear

So what would be an advantage of this over useing ASP (or JSP) and XML? Is it simply, easier to use? Or does it offer features that the other programming languages do not? -Ovatvvon :-Q

Very simply put, yes it is much easier to use. if you've got months to code then you could create reports theoretically in many languages. Crystal is a bundled software reporting tool that covers a wide range of databases and can provide you with an easy to use gui that allows for quick reporting solutions.
