Hey all,

I really appreciate all the great information that Tek-tips gives me. And I usually find the answers to my questions before I ask them.

This however is something I haven't seen here, so I am hoping with fingers crossed that someone out there can help me.

Each week when one of my servers reboots, I get a message in the system error log. Here is a copy of my errpt -a for this error:
Code:

The thing is - I don't even have a graphic adapter in this server. Why would it report an error?

Any advice would be appreciated. Einstein47

Einstein,

Details below :

Problem
Every reboot results in the following error:
ERROR LABEL: GRAPHICS

ERROR ID: E85C5C4C

CFGLFT 1122

------------------------------------------------------------

Solution

The CFGLFT 1122 error indicates "keyboard not found". This error occurs because the keyboard is not currently plugged into the system or was not plugged in at one time. The keyboard must be plugged into the machine. The following workaround will allow you to remove the error message.

Move /etc/methods/startlft to startlft.bak and the messages will disappear.

NOTE: When a backup (mksysb) of the system is made, you must first move this file back to its original location.

Comment from me :

Do not move the file away to .bak as it will need to be copied back during mksysb backup's and as the error is non disruptive just ignore the error report.

Best of luck

Great help guys!!! [thumbsup]

PSD - I'll take your advice. I would hate to have to remember to move that file back each time before a mksysb. Especially since I'm not the one that does the backup all the time.

DSMARWAY - Excellent site!!! That list of error codes is the most complete I've seen anywhere. I have bookmarked that URL and will visit often.

Both of you get /images/star.gifs for you quick help.

Thanks again!!! Einstein47

Silly question, why must /etc/methods/startlft be restored before a mksysb?

You could either make a wrapper for mksysb that would restore the file, call the real mksysb then move the file back, OR

You could put some code in your /etc/rc.shutdown to move it from .bak, then put another rc to move it to .bak on startup. IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation
