WHAT IS ASP? DO I NEED A WEB SERVER TO START WITH ASP?

Hello all.

I am okay with JSP. I've used web servers like BEA and TOMCAT in the past. I am quite new to ASP and would like to start programming in ASP. Do I need a web server like tomcat? Or is there any specific servers for ASP? What are the advantages of ASP over JSP and when do we need both?
I would also appreciate if you can let me know how to start wih ASP.
