In topas tools I find some "aioserver" process. Who can tell me what is aioserver?

Typically Asynchronous I/O is turned on for databases which use raw logical volumes. When the database issues a write it will be handled by async I/O and will be written immediately to disk, this way the database is sure that all writes are commited to disk. When using Filesystem space writes are cached first and physical written to disk at a later time.

Hope this helps.

Databases don't need raw logical volumes to use asynchronous I/O on AIX systems. Other flavors of Unix do require raw logical volumes.
