My apologies if this is Off-Forum as this is not a McAfee problem but rather more of a discussion topic. Here goes:

I've been tracking how well ePO 3.0.1 distributes DAT updates, product updates, engine updates etc. in our environment and, though I am pleased, am also curious as to others experience.

For example, one sampling I took yielded the following:

Units reporting THIS day - 99.8% are at current DAT, 98.8 @ 7.1 and 98.9 @ 4.3.20.

This is on a network of roughly 2000 PCs.

Any added comments are welcome and once again, if this should not be in this forum, you have my apologies.

Thanks - Jeff

Actually, this encompasses 100 servers, 1800 desktops, 500 laptops. Yes, the numbers don't add up as MANY laptop users have not logged into the domain since inception of ePO (and we're working on that!). Those that are not 100% up to date are mostly laptops (seems to be the big problem area).

I usually see about 95% of the computers on a much smaller network up to date. Of the computers that are logged onto the network, usually 99% are updated within the first hour.

There are traveling users with laptops that I have to wait until they log back onto the network to make sure they are up to date. I have them set to update directly from McAfee if they are off the network.

There are three international locations that are in way different time zones. I have to wait until the day after an update comes down to see how well they did.

Additionally they have a habit of renaming computers frequently in one of the international locations so it takes awhile to figure out which are no longer real.

Once surviving the trials and tribulations of installation and debugging, epo is a great product.
