What is a trap capture? and What does it do? Why is it always activated when ever I open my pc?

Thank you,

Hi,
trapcapture is a small util that comes with the DSS console/ sniffview. It is used the capture alarms send by the DSS sniffer boxes. On a DSS you can give the IP of the console/sniffview, and there the alarms are sent to.

Yuo can find more info in the DSS manual.

Hi,
Further to Robert's post.
"TrapCapture" is a SNMP Trap management utility, that is install as part of the Sniffer Distributed client-side application. It allows you to view and priorities traps (alarms) based on alarms that have been breached in the Sniffer GUI on your Sniffer Distributed Appliance(s).

To take advantage of this feature, you need to enable SNMP and add your IP address of you pc, within the "SNMP" tab, within either "probeviewer" or the "SnifView", agent's "config" option.

If you are not using this application, it can be removed by deleting it from "Start Up" menu in "start", "programs".
