I have a document that I am trying to open in OFFICE 2003 and continually get the error "(doc name) is not a valid Single File Web Page". I can open this document in notepad with no problems. I've been searching for a setting in MSWORD that I can turn off that will allow me to open this document instead of receiving the error. Any suggestions?

Have you tried opening it in Word using the Open & Repair option?

Is that an option I should be given with MSWORD 2003, all I get when trying to open this is the dialog box with the error about the "single file web page" and the "OK" button. After that the dialog box goes away and I am not given any other choice. Now, this is a text document with html coding in it - I'm guessing MSWORD thinks I should be opening this in a browser but I can't do that either since it is a text document. My only choice is to open it in NotePad or WordPad - which really is not even a choice that I want.

Use File, Open, select (highlight) the file and then click the little arrow attached to the OPEN button. Select Open & Repair from the options. Does that work for you?

No luck, I still get the same error: "(docname) is not a valid single file web page". I've never used the option OPEN & REPAIR - although, it doesn't seem to fix this problem. This is only happening on documents that MSWORD 2003 is trying to open.
Thanks for your help on this ongoing problem.

Found the problem. This document began as an email, it goes through a process and is saved as a document. The header information of the email is included in this document, once I stripped out the lined "MIME-Version: 1.0 " then all works fine. Is there a setting in MSWORD that I should change to prevent this problem from occuring?
