I am trying to set up a VPN tunnel between two routers of the same model and brand.

I think I understand what the "IKE Keep Alive" means in the set up, but I am not sure what IP address I should enter?

Should it be my local IP address, the remote IP of the router I am connecting to, or something totally different?

Thanks,

Usually when you setup IKE Keepalives, it's just to set a time interval for how often you want the keepalive to be sent. I can't recall an instance where I've had to specify an IP address to set this up.

Incidentally IKE keepalive is just a way the peers in your tunnels exchange messages that demonstrate they are available to send and receive data in the tunnel. Whenever one peer stops transmitting these messages, the tunnel containing that device can be replaced by a tunnel connecting to a backup device.

This concept is similar to Dead Peer Detection (DPD)
