It was working fine until it started showing an error 10 and would print but the printed image would be wavy in the center. Shortly after that it became an error 12 and won't print. It also makes a kind of a rising and falling whiny noise half way thru initializing.

What is a Phaser 550 error 12?

Error 12 is a laser syncronization error, and occurs when an input signal is not present, to cure this:
inspect the flex printed circuit between CN502 of the Laser Driver Board and CN550 of the Laser Scanner Unit and check the cable from the LDB to the ECU, CNXXX to CN3, and Check the cable from the LDB to the ECU, CNXXX to CN8, if the cables are ok replace the Laser Driver Bd. (LDB) P/N 118-9333-00

Error 12 might also be a wrong indicated error 30.
