Hello everyone, I'm new to DirectX and I need advice on a good book so I can learn it. I already have a book, but it's not very big and I know that I'll have lots of questions this book doesn't answer. Any tips?

I have a few DirectX/Direct3D books that are pretty good, If you code in VC++...

I highly suggest ANY book by Andre LaMothe...
especially from the Game Development Series...
(Prima Tech)

Others include...
Inside Direct3D (Microsoft Press)
3D Game Programming with C++ (Coriolis)
Tricks of the Windows Game Programming Gurus (Sams)
3D Game Engine Design (Morgan Kaufmann?)
Those are some of the best that I have seen...

Note that anything that has to do with Games now days is usually going to include DirectX

I will be doing DirectX programming in VB 6.0

Would there be a different list of 'good' books for me to go find?

?...

I just posted a similar thread for VB & direct X...

The books tell you about all the parts of direct X...

I just don't like trying to figure out how port the C++ examples to vb...

I have just started using Direct X in borland c++ builder, I found that Windows Game Programming for Dummies by Andre LaMothe to be very easy to understand and gets you up and running in minimum time.

It was just getting the DirectX 8.1 SDK to work properly on builder that was the most annoying challenge. See borland's web site for tips on using Implib for help on that.

Andre LaMothe made a Game Programming Dummies book???

I'll haven't seen that one, I'll have to look for it...

thanks
