What is 802.5 Media Filter (transceiver) for ???

just picked up 3 2504 routers. with them came 3 802.5 Media Filters with 'LanView'. They're some kind of transceiver that plug into the token ring port on the router. On the other end is an RJ-45 connecter (female)

It looks like some sort of converter.

Its just a convertor that means you can run token ring networks over cheap UTP cable. If you buy a token ring switch/hub to connect to your 2504's, they will normally have RJ45 interfaces on them so you can simply plug in using standard CAT 5 cable that you may have
